Is It Bad For A Silkie To Have Light Skin?

Discuss all aspects of raising poultry. No topic is as well small

white skinned white silkie?

hullo, i put a few eggs from lav pekins and white silkies in the other week,, two of each, i idea the pekins were not fertile yet,, and unless i fabricated a mistake something odd happened.
the two silkies hatched, the pekins were discarded. only.... one normal and one trivial thing , 5 toes etc etc , only white skin. at first i thought i had confused the eggs and it was a lav pekin, but so i saw its v toes,,
i hatched a dozen white silkies from the parents already, all normal.
what is going on?
may be a sport, or some impure blood further back, but the white is recessive and the black peel dominant, well, intermediate i recollect,,,,
i know there is supposed to be a white skinned silkie, in the u.s.a.,
anyone else ever have em appear?

the but thing i can think of is that the parents had 'blue' not black pare and produced what would be in feather colouring a 'splash'. perhaps some silkie breeder could propose me. its non as well impt as i only got them to breed broodies, only just in case i may have to sell whatsoever, i dont want to sell a bird that is 'incorrect'.

all silkies ,no affair what colour feathering ,should take blue skin, mullberry comb an wattles, torquise earlobes, 5 toes. that chick was a throwback from somewhere, once i got ane with xanthous legs,i culled it, unless information technology turnes out to be a hen to be kept as a broodie ,i would cull it as no one will buy it, an i would Non breed from information technology.

ps, keep an eye on how many hatches this happens in,eg ,every 2nd ,5th, etc, an if it keeps happening, change the rooster.

if the chicks in the incy are the same or inside a day or two of the broodies, y'all tin stick the chicks under the broodies, i have washed information technology with 2 hens ,1 hens chicks were 4 days older ,an the other hen took 1 week old chicks, as her eggs were empty. BUT DO Information technology AT NIGHT, she wont have chicks during the twenty-four hour period.
do you apply the same rooster for all the hens, what colours have y'all?

they were 10 days afterwards pearl, but i had six chicks nether an electric hen, then i put them under that , afterwards having left them a bit longer than normal in the incy, to get a chip of life to cope with the older chicks. all running round together at present.
re my roosters, i have 3. i bought five white pullets from a guy and an unrelated cockerel. two of the five i immediately saw to be roosters. i gave i to a friend and kept the other half blood brother to mate to calorie-free sussex hens for next years broodies.
i dearest the bluish silkie though, but orps are my favorite. what colours have you?
i really just like the bluish, white blackness and vitrify. ah the blackness when a good bird seems beautiful too.
